1. Dry immediately
If the carpet has just been exposed to water, then you should dry it as soon as possible. Here are some ways to dry it.

• Take a dry cloth, place it on a wet carpet and also the bottom. Absorb as much water as possible with the cloth.
• If the weather permits, dry the carpet in the sun until it is completely dry.
• If the weather is not possible, open the window or turn on the fan by pointing at the carpet to speed up the drying process.

2. Prevent mold growth
If the carpet is dry, sprinkle baking soda over the entire surface, the more the better. Then, leave it overnight. Baking soda works to inhibit the growth of mold and mildew on wet or damp carpets. As you know, mold and mildew will certainly endanger the health of you and your family if growth is not prevented on your carpet. In addition, their presence can also permanently damage the carpet. After a night, vacuum the carpet clean.

3. Overcome the carpet that smells
If you are late handling a wet carpet or do not dry it completely, then the musty odor and other unpleasant odors will come out of your carpet. This is certainly not fun, right? However, don’t worry! You only need to re-sprinkle baking soda over the entire surface of the carpet, then leave it for several days. After that, vacuum until clean.

Drying a wet carpet does require patience and accuracy because a few non-dry parts can potentially be a place for mold to grow that is harmful to health and shortens the life of the carpet.
